Low back pain can significantly interfere with work, hobbies, and overall wellbeing. We are here to help you get to the root cause of your pain and achieve long-term relief.

Usually when low back pain is occurring, it’s a sign that there’s an underlying biomechanical issue in the spine. Essentially, one or more bones is fixated and not moving the way it should. This can cause reduced global range of motion, pain, tightness, and structural changes. The low back is an area that tends to have compensatory biomechanical and structural changes as a result of a root cause that is located in the neck and/or pelvis. For this reason, only by looking at the body from a holistic, integrative view can we correct the cause of low back pain.

In this before image you can see that this patient has straightening of the lumbar spine. This is a structural compensation that was caused by an issue in the patient’s neck. When her neck became weak due to a biomechanical issue, it fell forward and she lost the curve in her neck. As a compensation, she also started losing the proper curvature of her low back. When we lose the curve in our low back, we become more prone to having issues with our disc health, such as disc herniations. For every 1 inch our head falls forward, it adds 10 pounds of axial stress on the rest of our spine. Furthermore, our curves are designed for proper shock absorption through the discs. When we lose the proper curvature, there is now extra stress and weight being distributed through our discs throughout the day.

By taking motion x-rays of her spine and determining exactly where the root cause was, we were able to restore the curvature to her low back. This reduced axial loading and stress on the discs completely resolved her pain long-term, and made her less prone to future disc issues.
This patient was once concerned she may need surgery for her low back, and instead was able to avoid further medical intervention.

After your exam, we’ll review your findings with you and show you on your x-rays exactly what the problem is and how we’ll address it. Your care recommendations will be personalized to you and what needs to be done to address the issue.
